Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester City Councilmember Mark Bilderback has announced he will run for re-election this year.

The 4th ward representative was first elected to the council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012. Bilderback had been wrestling with the decision to run for a third term, in part because of the time commitment. He says that will no longer be a problem because he plans to retire from his fulltime job at Mayo Clinic in July.

In his announcement, Bilderback said he “  wants to continue working on strengthening neighborhoods, and the city of Rochester. “

Bilderback added, “ One of the main drivers for the future development of Rochester will be the Destination Medical Center project. We not only need to be aware of DMC but we need to guide the direction of DMC so that it will benefit greater Rochester.”

He also said the future looks bright and he “ is looking forward to serving the citizens of Rochester for another four years.”
