Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council is scheduled to discuss the Rec Center/Senior Center project during its committee meeting Monday.

The city Park Board has submitted a recommendation to award the project to the Kraus Anderson Construction Company. The board is also recommending a $1 million increase in the project’s budget to cover contingency costs. That would place the budget at nearly $24 million.

If the council accepts the recommendation, a formal vote could take place during its evening meeting.

Two large housing projects are also scheduled for public hearings and possible votes during the council’s evening meeting.

One is from local developer Joe Weis, who wants to construct a four story building with 68 units near the Cheap Charlie’s restaurant.

The other project is a proposed five story 84 unit, mixed-use development located along the south side of 5th Street SW and east of 2nd Ave SW.  That project also includes a request for tax increment financing.

Meeting agenda can be found here.
