Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -The Rochester City Council Wednesday night voted to hire a new city attorney to take over when Terry Adkins retires next month.

The council has hired Jason Loos, who has been working as deputy city attorney in Portland, OR.  Adkins is the longest serving city attorney in Rochester history. He began his local career in 1991.

Also at the meeting, the council approved 2018 salaries that will pay the mayor $36,650. That’s up $1,000 from 2017.  The salary for the councilmember-at-large will rise $800 to $27,000. Councilmembers will receive a $600 bump with a 2018 salary of $21,131.
