Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Unemployment in the Rochester area dipped last month as both employment and the size of the labor force shrank due to seasonal factors.

The latest jobs data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County slid 3-tenths of a point from August to 2.7-percent in September. The unemployment rate from September last year was only 2.5-percent.

Across the region, Olmsted County continued to enjoy the lowest jobless rate in the region. Every County saw lower unemployment rates last month, with Dodge County enjoying the largest drop. Its unemployment rate fell 7-tenths of a point to 2.9-percent. The highest rate in the region was a historically low 3.3-percent in Fillmore and Winona Counties.
