Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A barn north of Rochester caught fire early Wednesday and the blaze wiped out the building, a tractor, equipment and 400 bales of hay.

Rochester firefighters were called to the property at  770 75th St NW around 2:00 AM and found the 30 X 50 barn fully engulfed.

The building was in a remote location and firefighters had to use 500 feet of hose to get water to the site. Some horse saddles and other gear were also lost. The preliminary damage estimate was put at $30,000.

An RFD spokesman says a tank heater was the source of the fire.

The property is located between 11th Ave and West River Rd.
