Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - Charges have been filed in a Red Wing murder case.

The Goodhue County Attorney’s Office today announced that 26-year-old Charles Deonta Jones of Red Wing is facing two counts of second-degree murder, a third degree murder charge and a second degree manslaughter charge in connection with the death of 27-year-old Dangelo Masterjohn. Jones is accused of shooting Masterjohn at close range in the chest. Red Wing Police found the victim dead on a sidewalk in a residential neighborhood near downtown Red Wing early Tuesday.

Jones, who was previously described as a “person of interest” in the case, was taken into custody on an unrelated charge following a traffic stop in Western Wisconsin. He is currently being held in the Pierce County Jail pending his extradition to Minnesota.

The motive for the fatal shooting has not been disclosed.
