Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - A two-hour police incident near Byron Monday ended peacefully.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s office was contacted around 2:30 p.m. by a family member about a 45-year-old man who had been acting suicidal.

The family member got into a dispute with the man and was preparing to leave when he put a gun to his head while outside the home in the 800 block of 20th St NE. The person drove off and, moments later, heard two shots. The person turned around and saw the man on the ground. The man then got up and walked into the house.

Deputies surrounded the home and began negotiating with the man. After about two hours he came out of the home without the gun and was taken to St. Mary’s for a psychological evaluation.
