Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising motorists to expect delays, starting Tuesday, on a stretch of Highway 52 north of Zumbrota.

Crews working on the huge CapX2020 project will be preparing to string power lines across the highway later in the week by placing barriers along the north and southbound lanes of the roadway.

Starting Wednesday, weather permitting, traffic will be narrowed to a single lane in each direction and stopped periodically while helicopters hover overhead to support the power lines during the installation process. Each traffic stoppage is expected to last about five minutes and occur about once every 40 minutes to an hour.

This will be the first of six such projects along the Highway 52 corridor over the next six months.

MNDOT officials are asking motorists to pay close attention to their driving and to not stop along the roadway or the shoulder to watch the work as it is taking place.
