Pipestone, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is investigating whether alcohol contributed to a deadly traffic crash in southwestern Minnesota early Saturday morning.

A preliminary report indicates a 24-year-old Sioux Falls man was killed and his 22-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries when the car they were in was hit, head-on, by a pickup truck that crossed over the center line on Highway 23 near Pipestone.

The State Patrol says alcohol was detected in the 21-year-old Brookings South Dakota man driving the pickup. He was also seriously injured in the crash, which occurred around 2:30 a.m.

His name, and the names of the two crash victims have not been released.
