MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 34-year-old Minneapolis man is accused of raping a 10-year-old girl in the hallway of the Riverside Plaza apartment complex.

Ahmed Hersi Abdi was charged Tuesday with two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Minnesota Public Radio News reports Abdi remains in jail on $500,000 bail. A court hearing is scheduled for early next month.

The girl was attacked Sunday. Surveillance camera video shows a man entering an elevator with the girl.

According to the complaint, witnesses who heard the girl scream flagged down police outside the complex in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood. They told police they saw the girl crying.

She described the suspect. Police later identified Abdi from the video and arrested him in St. Paul.
