COHASSET, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed after he threatened Itasca County sheriff's deputies with a gun.

WDIO-TV reports 31-year-old Adam Schneider was identified by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Schneider confronted sheriff's deputies with a shotgun early Saturday morning as they arrived at a home where a disturbance was reported.

A deputy shot Schneider after he ignored several commands to put the weapon down and pointed it at the deputies. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Itasca County Sheriff's Deputy Stephen Snyder was placed on standard administrative leave following the incident.
