Maplewood, MN (KROC AM News) - A high speed chase on a Twin Cities freeway early Tuesday ended when the pursued vehicle crashed and the driver was seriously injured.

The State Patrol says a trooper clocked a vehicle at more than 100 mph on eastbound I-94 in St Paul around 2:30 AM. Instead of pulling over, the driver speeded up and hit speeds of more than 120 mph.

The chase ended several miles away when the driver lost control, rolled and struck a light pole while trying to exit the freeway in Maplewood.

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Howard Johnson of Stillwater, who may have been impaired.
