Phil Collins Sings at US Open

New York City (KROC AM News)-  Fans at Monday night’s US Open tennis tournament were treated to more than some entertaining competition.

Officials at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City for the first time showed off the new $150 million roof at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The roof was closed earlier in the day and then there was a short ceremony before the evening schedule of matches began. As the roof re-opened, the sounds of a popular song from the 1980’s were heard - as well as the voice of the singer/musician who made the song famous.  

Phil Collins - solo artist and former frontman for the band Genesis - appeared and entertained the crowd with his song “In the Air Tonight” that was released in 1981 and became an international hit.

 His son Nicholas played the drums, something Collins did in the early years of his concert tours.
