A late winter storm has dumped over a foot of snow on sections of Minnesota. As of late Wednesday afternoon, the highest snowfall totals were being reported in the Lake Mille Lacs area, but the National Weather Service is indicating there is a band of heavy snow that runs across portions of central Minnesota into northeastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

Difficult travel conditions in those areas kept law enforcement officers busy. The latest reports from the Minnesota State Patrol indicate troopers responded to around 140 crashes and 160 reports of vehicles off roads. 20 of the crashes caused injuries and one resulted in the death of a truck driver from Moorhead.

The State Patrol says the 43-year-old man was driving a truck that smashed into a bridge pillar after colliding with another semi-truck on I-94.
