The 2015 A Litter Bit Better! campaign resulted in the collection of over 27,000 pounds of trash and over 3800 pounds of recyclable materials.

The grand total was over 15.4 tons of stuff that had collected on public lands and streets in Rochester over the past year. The community resource group RNeighbors reported that over 2,900 volunteers cleaned up about 5,300 acres at nearly 240 sites in Rochester over the past couple weeks.

Last year’s A Litter Bit Better! effort produced a pile of about 18,000 pounds of garbage and around 3700 pounds of recyclables.

Since the annual program began in 2007, about 110 tons of litter has been collected throughout the community in an effort to give Rochester a “spring cleaning.”
