Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester area sported the lowest unemployment rate in the region last month.

The most recent job numbers from the state show the jobless rate for Olmsted County was steady at 3.1-percent in February. Seasonal factors pushed the rate up about a half-point from the end of last year, but the February unemployment rate was still a half-point lower than it was last year.

The highest unemployment rate in the region was found in Fillmore County at 5-percent, but that also compared favorably with February last year when the rate was 5.6-percent. Jobless rates were mainly steady across the region last month with many counties reporting slight increases or decreases in their rates. The largest month-to-month change was in Houston County where the unemployment dropped 3-tenths of a point to 4.5-percent.
