Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Olmsted County has promoted interim Planning Director Ben Griffith to fill the position on a permanent basis. Griffith has been serving as Interim Director the past 7 months and previously worked for the county as Assistant Planning Director. A news release also indicates Griffith will serve as the Executive Director of the Rochester-Olmsted Council of Governments or ROCOG.

His appointment comes as the City of Rochester is creating its own Community Development Department, which will assume some of the duties now handled by the Rochester-Olmsted Consolidated Planning Department when it becomes operational next summer.

The Navy veteran has worked a planner for over 25-years.
