Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a breakthrough in its ongoing investigation into a recent series of residential burglaries.

The department has revealed several homes and one business were searched for evidence last week and a substantial amount of stolen property was recovered. Some has already been returned to the owners.

Several suspects have been identified through DNA samples.

A Rochester man was arrested as part of the investigation after he was found to be in possession of a handgun that had been stolen in Missouri. 34 year old James Piens was arraigned Monday. More arrests are expected.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office is taking part in the investigation because the same suspects may have been involved in recent burglaries in that county.

The search warrants were executed last Wednesday at the following sites:

2027 Lark Lane Northwest Stewartville, MN

6578 Crestview Lane Northwest Rochester, MN Cascade Township

2926 Fremont Court SW Rochester, MN

A search warrant was also conducted at the following business in Rochester, MN:

“Trends” 25 9 ½ Street Southeast
