Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The Rochester City Council has a decision to make on the planned reconstruction of a section of North Broadway - Option 2B or Option 2B-Alternate.

A consultant report favors the first option because it “best meets the project goals, including safety and mobility for all users.”

But the report says the option also “presents access concerns for some of the existing businesses.”

One major change the preferred option calls for is the elimination of six intersections that would give motorists complete access to N. Broadway between Civic Center Dr and 13th St.

If the council selects one of the options, a formal vote could be scheduled at its May 7th meeting. That vote is needed so staff can proceed to the final design stage.

Work on the project is scheduled to begin next year.
