MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  The Minnesota Timberwolves stood pat at the NBA's trade deadline on Thursday.

General manager Milt Newton says they fielded many phone calls over the last couple of days, but "we are not in the business of giving away our players." There was some belief that the Wolves would try to move shooting guard Kevin Martin or forward Adreian Payne this week.

In the end, Newton says the team could not find any deals that he felt made the team better.

Several reports indicated that the Wolves were considering trading point guard Ricky Rubio. Newton says the Timberwolves never made any calls offering Rubio to other teams, but did receive some inquiring about the Spanish point guard.

The Wolves return from the All-Star break with a game in Memphis on Friday.
