MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Adrian Peterson has informed Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer that he will not be attending the team's optional practices that start on Tuesday.

Peterson has been unhappy with the Vikings for a perceived lack of support from within the organization while he addressed child abuse charges last season. The person spoke Sunday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the issue.

The Vikings have said they have no plans to trade Peterson, who could lose out on a $250,000 workout bonus by skipping the practices this week.

Peterson is not required to attend any team functions until a mandatory minicamp next month.
