Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - We could know this week who Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede will pick to be the city’s next police chief.

The city’s Police Civil Service Commission is scheduled to meet Friday (4:00 PM) to review and approve the background investigation of the three finalists.

The commission will then certify the list and the next move will be made by Brede.

He could make a decision right away and notify the finalist.  If the finalist accepts, negotiations would begin on an employment contract.

The three finalists are:

Mark Elliot, the Police Chief of Prior Lake, Captain James Franklin who works with the Metropolitan Transit Police in Minneapolis and Roy Alston of the Dallas Police Department. He was promoted to major last Tuesday.
