Murdered Woman’s Family Files Lawsuit
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The family of a St. Paul woman killed by her husband has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him.
Forty-two-year-old Jeffery Trevino is serving 27 years in prison for the death of his wife, Kira Steger. Her body was found in the Mississippi River in 2013.
An attorney for Steger's family says they are going after Trevino's homeowner's policy and his union pension. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the lawsuit was filed in Ramsey County District Court on Thursday.
Trevino is appealing his conviction on second-degree unintentional murder.
