St. Paul, MN (Learfield Wire Services/TTWN Media Networks) -  The state's insurance exchange is reporting a record number of Minnesotans in the individual market signed up for 2018 health coverage through MNsure.

The exchange released a report today that shows 116,358 Minnesotans had enrolled for 2018 coverage, which exceeded the previous year's record of 114,810. That's despite this year's open enrollment period being shorter by three weeks. Additionally, MNsure officials reported more than 60 percent of enrollees qualified for advanced premium tax credits.

Across the state, officials reported those tax credits averaged just under $7,700 for northeast Minnesota, $12,000 for southeast Minnesota, $8,100 for northwest Minnesota, and $11,000 for southwest Minnesota. In the Twin Cities, the average was just under $4,900.
