The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office has sent nearly 200,000 absentee ballots to voters for next week’s election.  More than half have already been processed and accepted.  That’s an increase of 61 percent compared to the 2010 mid-term election. It’s also higher than the total from the 2012 presidential election.

At last report, about 3600 of the 4900 absentee ballots that were given to Olmsted County voters have been accepted.

All absentee ballots must be returned to local election officials by Election Day.  Those who applied for and/or received an absentee ballot but failed to turn it in may still vote absentee in person at their local election office.  They may also vote on Election Day at their assigned polling place.

Voters who have applied for and/or returned their absentee ballot are encouraged to use the  Absentee Ballot Lookup tool at mnvotes.org to track the status of their ballot to learn when their ballot was mailed, and if it was received and accepted.

Voters who do not see a record of their absentee ballot in the online lookup tool are encouraged to contact their county elections office.
