HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — A jury has acquitted the Minnesota Republican Party's endorsed candidate for Supreme Court on a misdemeanor DWI charge.

But Michelle MacDonald was convicted Wednesday of refusing a blood-alcohol test, a gross misdemeanor, and obstructing the legal process, a misdemeanor.

The six-member jury reached the verdict after a three-day trial in Dakota County. Sentencing is set for Nov. 12, after the election.

MacDonald, who practices family law, maintains she was not drinking the night she was pulled over by Rosemount police last year.

Her defense attorney, Stephen Grigsby, says MacDonald was "justifiably shocked" by the verdict. Grigsby says they plan to appeal to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

MacDonald was endorsed at the GOP state convention in May. Party officials say they didn't know about her arrest.
