Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is crediting the media’s assistance in the quick end to a missing person case.

Police Captain John Sherwin says less than an hour after Rochester area media outlets posted the police department’s request for assistance in locating 32-year-old Eric Mokom, he was found at a local shelter and is safe and unharmed. Prior to that, the recently arrived immigrant from Cameroon had not been seen since last Thursday when he left his family’s home in northwest Rochester shortly after the city was hit by a heavy snowstorm.

There was concern about his welfare because he had no cash, no additional clothes, and no cell phone. Officials have not said how he ended up at the shelter.
