St Paul, MN (KROC AM News) -  Minnesota’s economy shed 7900 jobs in January.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development reported January’s jobs information Tuesday morning.

The report shows despite the loss of jobs, the monthly unemployment rate was unchanged from December at 3.7 percent.It was 4.5 percent in January 2013.

The report shows the largest job losses were in the trade, transportation and utilities sectors, with a total decline of 6,000.Construction jobs fell by 1700.

The department also says there was a large downward revision of the number of job gains last year.

The new figure shows the state’s economy gained 12,700 fewer jobs from December 2013 to December 2014 than originally reported.The revised figures indicate that as of December 2014 the state has gained 210,200 jobs since the low point of the recession in September 2009, instead of the original estimate of 222,900 jobs.
