The kick was good and the Gophers beat Rutgers 34-32.  Minnesota (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten) had built a 21-3 lead in the first period, but watched it melt away until the game was on the line.

Rodney Smith rushed 22 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns -- one on a 94-yard kickoff return.  Quarterback Mitch Leidner returned to the lineup and connected on 11-of-18 passes for 156 yards.  He also ran two yards for a first-quarter score and gave up a pick-six.
