Rosemount, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota National Guard has sent out notifications to over 500 soldiers who could be called to active duty for an overseas deployment in the fall of next year.

The notified units are with the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division and are based in Rosemount, Inver Grove Heights, and Faribault, while the affected soldiers are from 10 different states and the District of Columbia. They have been told the potential deployment would be to the Southwest Asia region and is expected to last up to a year.

"The Red Bulls maintain a high level of readiness, and over the next 12 months, our soldiers will train for this mission while also preparing their families and civilian employers here at home," said Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen, 34th Infantry Division commanding general. "The official notification is an important step in the process of building readiness for an overseas deployment."

A statement from the Minnesota National Guard says the soldiers will complete a capstone training exercise next June prior to the start of the deployment.

The 34th Infantry Division is commemorating the 100th anniversary of its formation in August 1917. The first deployment was to France in the fall of 1918, just before the armistice brought an end to World War I.
