Minnesota Medical Marijuana Milestone
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Friday marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of Minnesota’s medical marijuana program.
The milestone will be marked by the opening of two additional dispensaries in St. Paul and Hibbing. That will bring the total number of medicinal marijuana centers in the state to eight.
The first day of the month is also the first day that registrations will be accepted for Minnesotans seeking approval to use medical cannabis for intractable pain. The State Health Department added intractable pain, which is defined as chronic pain that cannot be controlled well with existing methods of treatment, to the list of qualifying conditions for the program earlier this year.
Once patients with intractable pain are approved to join the program, they will be eligible to begin receiving medical marijuana products through the state licensed dispensaries on August 1st.
