Hopkins, MN (Learfield News Service) - Hopkins police say a judge had ordered a 24-year-old man to stay away from a former neighbor he allegedly killed Friday.

Police say the 67-year-old suspect chopped through the victim's door with an ax about 3:40 Friday morning and the victim had "sharp force injuries" to his head.

The victim filed for a temporary restraining order in late July which said the suspect could not be anywhere on the block where he lived. The victim's wife and roommate were home at the time of the killing, and the wife called 911. Officers soon found the alleged killer and arrested him.

Police said a fight preceded the incident, but not many other details were released.
