MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (AP) — A former Boston Scientific engineer has been sentenced to a year in prison for stealing trade secrets from his employer.

Aaron Quoc Khieu admits he stole the design for a new medical device called the Mustang Plus from the corporation's Maple Grove offices. But the 44-year-old Khieu argued the plans were worthless to him and he deserved only house arrest and probation.

Federal prosecutors argued that Khieu should service five years in prison for stealing the design for which the company said it spent more than $4 million. Boston Scientific last year received approval to sell the balloon catheter. Khieu was charged with 14 counts of trade secret theft and wire fraud. He earlier pleaded guilty to one count of theft.
