Minnesota House Speaker Rejects Gas Tax Hike
St. Paul, MN (Learfield) -- Minnesota House Speaker Kurt Daudt says Democrats are not making a serious offer, when they suggested a 12 cent per gallon gas tax increase.
Senate Democrats kept their gas tax proposal for motorists, while dropping a wholesale tax hike in their latest negotiations with House Republicans. Minneapolis Democrat Scott Dibble says the increase would be phased in during a three year period, but Red Wing House Republican Tim Kelly says a consumer gas tax increase has been a sticking point in the past, and that has not changed.
