MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Acquaintances say the latest homicide victim on the city's north side was a community activist and artist who was killed in a home invasion.

The 68-year-old woman was found dead in her home Thursday after her adult son asked police to check on her welfare. Neighbors identify the victim as Susan Spiller.

The Star Tribune reportss Spiller's son called police after he showed up to drop off his infant son and found the back door had been kicked in. Officers arrived and found Spiller's body in the house.

Her death is the second homicide on the north side in a span of seven hours.
