Meeting Scheduled Thursday for Olmsted County Road Project

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Olmsted County invites anyone with an interest in the Future County Highway 5 Connection to attend a public open house Thursday.

It will held at the Pine Island elementary school from 5 - 7 p.m.

The Future County Highway 5 Connection is a new roadway planned on the south side of Pine Island near the new school. The project continues previous efforts from Olmsted County, the City of Pine Island and New Haven Township previously called the 125th Street Corridor Study. The study identified the location and adopted an official map for a future 4‐lane County Highway 5 near its intersection with County Highway 3 and the recently constructed County Highway 12/Highway 52 interchange. Olmsted County has now developed a preliminary design to construct 2‐lanes of the County Highway 5 connection and a bridge crossing over the Middle Fork of the Zumbro River.

The purpose of the open house is to gather public input on the roadway and bridge design and communicate the construction staging plans and schedule.
