Party: Democratic-Farmer-Labor

Official Bio:

Tyrel Clark is running for State House because he's deeply committed to improving the lives and futures of the people, families, and communities throughout our district. Tyrel understands firsthand – as a father of four, as the husband of a teacher, as the brother of a farmer, as a neighbor, a grandson, a technology worker, and as a Mayor – how vital issues which directly impact the health, prosperity and opportunities for citizens in our district are decided at the State level. He believes that action on these issues is the best solution, not just words or voting the party line.

With three-terms as Mayor of Eyota under his belt, Tyrel is well prepared to be a highly effective advocate for you in the State Legislature. He has a deep understanding of how laws and proposals affect local cities and townships here in Southeastern Minnesota. In just six years, Tyrel has created numerous effective public/private partnerships to bring public health and childcare to communities in need, and knows how to produce results while keeping a balanced budget. By forming strong working relationships with people on both sides of the aisle, he hopes to achieve creative and collaborative solutions to the challenges and opportunities we face here in District 26B.

The work that does (or doesn't) get done in our State Legislature every session directly impacts the quality of life of everyone in Rochester, Eyota, Stewartville, and the surrounding communities. Tyrel is driven to be the productive leader and positive advocate that empowers people like you for the todays and the tomorrows.

Tyrel currently resides in Eyota with his wife Jenna and their four fantastic children. In addition to serving as Mayor, he is employed as an Information Technology Specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Your key platforms:

Healthcare - Working together to find and pass as law permanent creative solutions that keep insurance premiums low and guarantee every Minnesotan has access to quality medical and mental health care.

Education - Closing the funding gap to match inflation at the state level to help keep local taxes low and the quality of schools high for our youngest Minnesotans. Also, working together to find solutions to the student loan crisis in a way that doesn't cripple the ability for young Minnesotans to start a career here in Southeastern Minnesota.

Transparency in Governance - Doing my part to ensure the next session of the State Legislature is productive and represents the people of Minnesota over out of state donors and special interests, and holding myself and my colleagues to high standards of conduct.

What’s one thing you want the Rochester community to know about you?

I've built my reputation in public service around building coalitions to take action and get results for the people I serve, and I pledge to bring the same cooperative mentality and production to the State House in St. Paul.
