A former Mayo High School baseball standout is leaving the Rochester Honkers.

The team says Friday night's game at Mayo Field will be Brad Mathiowetz's last game of the season in a Honker's uniform. He has been dealing with a nagging arm issue that has prevented him from throwing a baseball all season and a statement issued by the team on Friday says "it's imperative that he gets healthy for his collegiate season and future in baseball."

The 2014 graduate of Mayo High School has played in 16 of 22 games for the Honkers this summer. He's batting .204, with 2 home runs 8 RBI.

“It’s unfortunate that we have to lose Brad for the summer,” said Rochester Honkers General Manager Dan Litzinger.  “His arm health is his priority for his future in baseball. We look forward to bringing him back next summer at 100% healthy!  He’s got a bright future!”
