(Rochester, Minn.)—The Rochester Honkers fell 4-2 against the Thunder Bay Border Cats today at Mayo Field.  Joe DeRoche-Duffin (UCONN) was charged with the loss for the Honkers. Kyle Von Ruden (Hawaii) got the win for Thunder Bay.

Brad Mathiowetz (DMACC) launched his second homeun of the season in the second inning to put the Honkers up 1-0. The Border Cats evened it at 1-all in the top fourth, but Scott Schreiber (Nebraska) brought Alex Schultz (Nebraska-Omaha) across to give the Honkers the lead again, but that was all the Honkers could muster.

Thunder Bay scored once in the eighth and twice in the ninth to take the lead. Trailing 4-2  in the bottom of the ninth with one out and a runner on first, Schreiber hit a line drive into first baseman Mikael Mogues’ (Seton Hall) glove. Mouges tagged the runner, Zach Hoffman (St. Cloud State), to end the game

The Honkers and Border Cats will square off again Monday at Mayo Field at 7:05. The Mascot Olympics will be part of the nights festivities, and there will be a free Thunderstix giveaway.
