MONTICELLO, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol says a man in a wheelchair was struck and killed on a highway near Monticello.

Authorities say 51-year-old Robert Haire of Monticello was heading north in the right-turn lane of Highway 25 near Kjellberg Court on Saturday morning when he was struck by a pickup heading in the same direction.

Haire was taken to CentraCare Health Clinic in Monticello, where he died.

A 29-year-old woman from Buffalo, Minnesota, was driving the Dodge Dakota. No alcohol was detected on either person.

The Star Tribune reports the scene is near commercial stores and restaurants on both sides of the highway.
