Man Charged With Raping Sleeping Stewartville Woman
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester area man was arraigned Friday morning on charges of breaking into the home of a Stewartville woman and raping her while she was sleeping.
Facing charges of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct and 1st degree burglary is 50 year old Michael Kahn, who has a Chester address.
According to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, the 42 year old victim was at a July 4th party in her neighborhood and went home around 11 p.m. She says she woke up about an hour later to find Kahn sexually assaulting her. She recognized Kahn as the father of a neighbor. He had been at the same party. The woman says she fell asleep again and woke up a second time on the floor and saw Kahn sleeping in her bed.
The woman did not call police that day but talked to investigators on Tuesday and Kahn was taken into custody Thursday.
During Friday's arraignment, Kahn’s bail was set at $75,000 and he was ordered back to court for another hearing on July 22nd.
Kahn was convicted in 2002 of a sexual assault of a woman. Court records show he was given a stayed 21 month prison sentence and placed on probation.
