MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 24-year-old Minneapolis man is charged in a gang-related shooting that wounded a mother and her young daughter who were not the intended targets.

Dontae Denae Peterson is charged with attempted second-degree murder and assault. Prosecutors will seek bail of $1 million when Peterson appears in court Tuesday.

According to the complaint, Peterson is a gang member and had been feuding with another man and his associates. After arguing with the man and his friends on Thursday, Peterson allegedly ran through Peavey Park and emptied his gun at the SUV carrying the man.

Prosecutors say one of the bullets struck a woman who was pushing her 15-month-old daughter in a stroller. The woman was wounded in the leg. Her child was struck in the abdomen and suffered permanent damage.
