MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Lynx will start the WNBA season as the consensus favorite to win the title.
The WNBA announced Thursday the results of its annual survey of the league's general managers. The Lynx were predicted to be champions for the third time in five years. They collected two-thirds of the votes.
Lynx forward Maya Moore was also chosen by the general managers to repeat as the WNBA's Most Valuable Player award winner, also collecting two-thirds of the votes. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was picked as the league's best head coach.
The Lynx will start their 17th season in the WNBA at home at Target Center on Friday night, with a game against the Tulsa Shock.
It will be the return of former Minnesota Gopher star Amanda Zahui B to the Twin Cities.
She was the number one pick by the Shock in the 2015 WNBA draft.
