Minneapolis, MN (MNN Sports) -- Yesterday afternoon the Minnesota Lynx introduced center Sylvia Fowles to the media for the first time in her new home.

 

Monday the Lynx traded for Fowles as part of a three team trade. Fowles will make her debut tonight against Los Angeles as the Lynx new center which should help a good team become even better.

Originally drafted second overall in the 2008 W-N-B-A Draft by the Chicago Sky, Fowles has averaged 15.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 186 career regular season W-N-B-A games (177 starts), all with Chicago.

The 6’6 center averaged 13.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game to help the Chicago Sky to a 15-19 record and the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals.

The Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks tip off tonight at 7 p-m from Target Center.

Lynx Sign Former Gopher
Yesterday the Minnesota Lynx announced the team has signed forward Shae Kelley to a seven-day contract. Kelley, a 6-1 forward from the University of Minnesota, was selected in the third round, 35th overall by Minnesota in the 2015 W-N-B-A Draft. She played in two preseason games with the Lynx this season.

Kelley was named to the All-Big Ten First Team in 2015 and was a three-time Big Ten Player of the Week honoree, while leading the Gophers in steals (56) and ranking second in points (578). She ranked sixth in the Big Ten in scoring, offensive rebounds and double-doubles, seventh in rebounds and defensive rebounds and 15th in steals.
