Litchfield Man Wins Second Place Powerball Prize

ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota man who makes his living with horseshoes — a symbol of luck — got lucky in a Powerball drawing.

Thirty-three-year-old Joseph Yanish of Litchfield won a $1 million prize in the May 14 drawing.

Yanish says he had an extra couple of bucks and decided to buy two tickets at the last minute at a Casey's General Store in St. Cloud.

He discovered his win a couple of days after the drawing when he read online that a $1 million ticket was sold at the store.

Yanish says he was "freaking out" and that his wife, Erin, thought someone had died.

Yanish shoes horses for a living. The Star Tribune reports the couple plan to pay off their debts, travel and tithe a portion of their prize.

This is the third time a second place Powerball ticket was sold in Minnesota this year.  A Rochester man was one of the lucky winners. Nick Suchla of Rochester won $1,000,000 in an April drawing.
