Rochester police Captain John Sherwin says 18-year-old Wyatt Page was driving a car that was pulled over just before 9 PM in the 600 block of Elton Hills Drive by an officer assigned to a drunk driving crackdown. Sherwin says Page sped away as the officer was approaching the vehicle, resulting in a brief pursuit that was broken off after the officer lost sight of the fleeing motorist.

Moments later, a call came in concerning the same vehicle that had crashed into a fire hydrant near the intersection of Silver Lake Drive and 14th Street Northeast. The driver had fled on foot, but an Olmsted County Deputy in the vicinity saw the man running away and police quickly set up a perimeter and called in a K-9 officer to help search for the suspect.

A short time later, Page was located on the roof a home and surrendered to police, who booked him into the Olmsted County Jail on a long list of charges, including DUI, criminal damage to property, simple robbery, burglary and fleeing police.
