Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  And, they’re off. Law enforcement personnel from the Rochester area began another running of the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics Wednesday morning.

The run began at the Olmsted County Government Center at 6:45 AM and is scheduled to end in Pine Island at 9:15 AM. Participants will walk, jog, run and ride bicycles during the run.

The event is officially called the Torch Run Final Leg for Special Olympics. It helps raise funds for Special Olympics Minnesota, which holds its summer games this coming weekend. Similar torch runs covering more than 2,000 miles are held around Minnesota as part of the event.
