St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Mark Dayton has officially declared today "Go Wild! Day" in Minnesota.

During a pep rally in St. Paul, the governor called on Minnesota hockey fans to cheer on the state's NHL team in the opening round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs by wearing the team colors today and on all other playoff dates.

“We are proud in Minnesota to call our state the State of Hockey,” said Governor Dayton, who was an All-State high school goalie in Minnesota, and is an avid hockey fan today. “I congratulate the team on an excellent season, and wish them the very best of luck in the playoffs. Go Wild!”

The Wild will be taking on the Blues in St. Louis tonight to open the best-of-seven NHL Western Conference Playoff Series. Game two will be played Saturday afternoon in St. Louis before the series shifts to St. Paul next Monday and Wednesday.
