Faribault, MN (KROC AM News) - Something may be brewing in the Julio Baez case.

He is the former Kasson police officer charged with sexually abusing three young girls over a period of several years. He is facing charges in Dodge, Olmsted, and Rice counties involving the same girls.

The 52-year-old Baez was scheduled to appear for a settlement conference hearing in Rice County Court Friday but his attorney was granted a delay until next week.

The reason cited in the attorney’s request was “to allow time for all parties to negotiate a settlement in all three counties.” The next hearing is scheduled for next Friday (Jan 4 - 3:00 PM).

Baez remains in Rice County jail.

Baez was initially charged in Olmsted County in June. At the time, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Scott Behrns says his office was informed of the potential criminal activity by Baez two days after he was found bleeding from self-inflicted gunshot wounds near Mantorville June 2nd. The officer was arrested in Winona after investigators were informed he had been released from St. Mary’s Hospital.
