ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A St. Paul-based helicopter rescue team was able to pluck an injured hiker from Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior.

The 62-year-old Stillwater woman was hiking in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park on Monday when she fell and dislocated her hip.

Lake County Rescue Squad responded, but was unable to remove the woman due to the rough terrain. So a State Patrol helicopter pilot and three St. Paul firefighters who are part of the Minnesota Aviation Rescue Team responded out of St. Paul.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the team removed the woman by air, and she was taken by ambulance to a Duluth hospital.

A State Patrol spokeswoman says using the helicopter was "the best option" for getting the woman out safely and quickly.
